Hanging out in the yard with my first mate Jack. I've got a new dark mane that I'm still trying to get used to. Think i might lighten it up again.  The mint color on the ends im totally sold on, although it washes out pretty quickly, so there's definitely a bit more maintenance than i've ever dealt with before.

Lately i've been on a Lana del Rey kick. Her music is so empowering, and relatable. Her voice is haunting and her vocal range is incredible. Her videos are amazing as well, they're like works of art, which this historian can appreciate. I think they've been inspiring my wardrobe in slight ways. I've been working in more sex appeal to go along with my usual grunge. Exhibit A, what i wore today...

mandarin monday

 Last week I helped open the new big-box Forever21 store in the Montgomery Mall. Everyone worked amazingly well together despite it being completely unorganized and we even opened a day earlier than expected. The store is beautiful, i recommend my local readers go check it out. The King of Prussia big-box opening is scheduled for October, so get ready for that one too! Anyhow at the opening these mandarin orange platforms caught my eye. I had seen them at the Franklin Mills store about a month earlier during an overnight shift, and I thought they had slipped through my fingers, but i found them again! Only nearly broke an ankle a handful (two handfuls) of times today, so that's pretty good... These are definitely not my norm, but I knew i could work them into my wardrobe just fine. I like that they're a bit unexpected.

Erin Wasson + One Teaspoon

My favorite model and biggest girl crush Erin Wasson models for Aussie based brand One Teaspoon in their latest collection named Love Cats (best name ever). Erin and One Teaspoon are perfectly paired. One Teaspoon's classic rock and roll vibe with shredded denim, muscle tees, a liberal use of leather and gobs of sex appeal are really brought to life with Erin's own disheveled dose of dope. Erin is quoted as saying “I’m a fan for life,” when it comes to the label that already has its own Aussie cult following. The campaign's lookbook and accompanying video were all shot in Venice, Cali. So without further adieu...

Erin's favorites were the gold leather pants, the flares, the domino rollers, the stripe bandits, the cash leather jacket, and the tees. So basically everything and she got to take it home with her. It's been so hot this summer...I'm a little sick of heat waves. Don't get me wrong, there's part of me that never wants summer to end. Long sunny days, trips to the beach, swimming, I love it all! But my style is fit for fall, which is my favorite time of year. Its got it all - my birthday, my favorite holiday Halloween, and MLB playoffs, not to mention the foliage! So I've been trying to fake out my fall style in this heat. I love to layer, so even if its too hot to wear a flannel it's getting tied around the waist, just 'cause! The knee socks were a stretch, seeing as how it was 95 degrees and sunny today, but whatever...tans are overrated anyhow. Here's what I wore today...

Feline Frenzy

Life's thrown me another curve ball. It seems as though every time I'm ready to get back in the blogging saddle something comes up. Unfortunately I received some bad news mid June. My cat, Captain Jack, had not been himself so I took him to the vet. $400 dollars and multiple tests later came my worst nightmare, my cat's sick and there's nothing we can do for him. He has feline leukemia, and non regenerative anemia, which means he's not creating enough red blood cells. So he's been ridiculously lethargic, even for a cat. I've been spending all my time lately with him, making him comfortable and giving him love. He and I have come to an agreement so far as feeding him baby food with a baby spoon, it's actually kind of sweet. He's up and down for the most part, so it's hard to say how long i'll have my baby around (and he is still a baby, only 5 years old :( ) , but I plan on spending every minute I can with him. Contemplating thoughts, like "What's a cat lady, without her cat?" have been getting to me. I know I have to keep doing what makes me happy, and fashion, after Jack, is my everything.

So with Jack resting right next to me and my laptop I'm creating this post. This outfit had me feeling pretty badass throughout the day. I'm becoming addicted to my low slung black graphic tanks - I feel a rut coming on - gonna have to force myself out of it at some point...they just go with everything!

For past photos I've borrowed either my mom or brother's cameras. I have a habit of just hanging onto them after I've used them too. So recently they both demanded to have their cameras back (i need to invest, i know) and now both of their cameras are misplaced. I always knew where they were when I had them in my possession!...Just sayin'!
