Weekend at the Beach

This past weekend I went down to the Jersey shore with a few good friends. I brought this feather headdress that I made on a whim a few weeks ago. I got the Michael's Crafts store itch, a few hours later I created this insanely over the top headdress. It's been sitting on a display head in my room since then. Kind of goofy, got some great looks from passerbys while longboarding and walking the beach with my best friend taking photos. First look is a bit tougher; the second softer. Anyhow, I got some sun and all in all had a great weekend. As a disclaimer, I've seen other bloggers get hounded about making headdresses because some believe it cheapens Native American's heritage and their pride in their practices, I can assure you that is not my intention. Native American headdresses are a true art form and worn by those who have earned them. I'm an art history student, I've studied them and have a true respect for the art form. This is just me, being crafty, and expressing the unusual love I've had for feathers since I was just a little girl. I loved finding them in the yard and would always bring them to my mom, even though for whatever reason feathers made her want to gag when she was pregnant with my little brother. Don't worry she pretended to be thrilled.

Summer time and the livin's easy...

I'm back from outer space, i just walked in to find ya here with that sad look upon your face! Actually i'm just back from general summer do-nothingness and extreme lethargy. Lots of fun, but mostly boring things have been going on, like grad parties for myself and friends, performing Kid Cudi concerts in my car (feeling like a boss), tonsillectomys, promotions at work, and chipping a front tooth on a beer bottle while longboarding...among other poor decisions. So here we go, style blog summer edition!

I recently re-organized my closet, my dresser...and my second dresser. (Yes, I know.) Let me tell you, I should never buy a single piece of clothing ever again. I don't need anymore, but I'm an addict, so i do? Life struggles. If the managers at work ever tally my store purchase receipts again please check me into a mandatory psych ward for a 72 hour hold so I don't hurt myself due to extreme shame. So anyhow, I organized my whole wardrobe for summer. It's inspired me to not fall into my habits of only wearing one pair of designated booty shorts a week, and attempting to alternate tops. So far so great. (Aside from wearing one flannel Friday-Monday this past weekend, but it's so good, you understand) This look was inspired by waking up too late to shave my legs after a night out at the bar, pants it was, pants it had to be! Drug my little brother to the woods by our neighborhood for these shots and found a very disturbing well/hole/thing. Kind of creepy, my SVU mind takes me right to disposing of bodies. And on that note,  thanks go out to my wonderful boss Tina for encouraging me to blog this outfit!
